Les Éditions Trilingual Press (Presse Trilingue) sont heureuses d’annoncer la parution de l’ouvrage Paul Laraque : Éclaireur de l’aube nouvelle [ISBN : 978-0-9745821-5-3 / Trilingual Press, été 2009 ; 180 pages / Prix : $15.00]. Édité sous la direction du professeur Franck Laraque, le frère cadet et compagnon de combat de Paul Laraque, avec une préface de Josaphat-Robert Large, le livre réunit—sous forme de réminiscences, de mémoires, d’essais, d’hommages, de poèmes, etc.—un impressionnant étalage d’écrivains et de personnes proches de Paul Laraque, dont sa fille Danielle Laraque, son petit fils Marc Anthony Arena, poète lui aussi, des nièces et neveux, des amis qui l’ont connu de longue date comme Georges Jean-Charles, Serge François, Bob Garoute, Kern Delince, Gérard Pétrus, Max Manigat, Frantz-Antoine Leconte, Raymond Chassagne, Jean Prophète ou d’autres plus récemment comme Frantz Latour, Denizé Lauture, Anthony Dupont, Hugues Saint-Fort, et des connaissances inspirées par ses œuvres. Le livre collectif est publié par Trilingual Press, une presse collaborative, non commerciale, qui préconise le concept de coumbit de production pour publier des œuvres d’intérêt dans la littérature haïtienne et mondiale. Elle édite en trois langues : français, anglais et créole. Cette anthologie panégyrique, qui inclut des poètes célèbres comme Jean Métellus, René Depestre, Anthony Phelps, Jack Hirschman, Gary Klang, Rodney Saint- Eloi, Jean Mapou, Michel-Ange Hyppolite, Prosper Sylvain Jr. etc., suscitera assurément de l’intérêt pour cet homme qu’on a surnommé « l’éclaireur de l’aube nouvelle ». Au juste, il semble que la popularité de Paul Laraque ne fait que de s’élargir depuis sa mort le 8 mars 2007, un jour, plaisantent certains, qu’il a choisi pour marquer son inébranlable soutien à la cause de la libération de la femme. Le peuple haïtien et les peuples d’autres nations avaient trouvé en lui un champion infatigable pour leurs droits. Ce livre est peut-être le premier texte haïtien qui aligne un si grand nombre d’auteurs et d’activistes intellectuels haïtiens vivants en hommage à un écrivain à peine trépassé. À vrai dire, comme on le voit dans les témoignages présentés dans le livre, ce défunt reste, dans les esprits et les émois de ses contemporains vivants, plus vivant qu’il ne l’a jamais été. À travers ces témoignages, ces expressions de chagrin, de respect et d’amour, c’est l’histoire et l’image d’un homme bien aimé et « engagé » qui se sont dévoilées ; l’image d’un grand homme d’idées, d’émotions et de générosité qui reste jusqu’à la fin solidaire des peuples dans leurs aspirations à la liberté, à la justice sociale, à la dignité.
